Deleting your account
How to delete your account, and what happens to your data.
How to delete your account
Open Eligna, go to Profile and choose Delete account. You will be asked to confirm. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. You do not need to email us, but you can (privacy@eligna.app) and we will do it for you within 7 days.
What is deleted
Your profile, habits, goals, tasks and identity statements. Your journal entries, personal money records and contacts. Your chat history with the assistant, your notification tokens and your sign-in. Your subscription, if you have one, is cancelled at the same time and you are not charged again.
What is kept, and why
If you were in a household with other people, a small part of the shared record stays so the people still in it are not left with broken history: shared money entries (who paid, who owed) keep their amounts with your name replaced by Former member, and shared chores, meals, plants and notes you added stay in the household with your name removed. We keep these because the other members have a legitimate interest in their own household record staying complete. Nothing that identifies you remains in them.
If you pay for a household
Your subscription ends when your account does. The other members keep their data. The household stays on the free plan unless one of its admins subscribes; premium is not transferred.
Timing
Deletion happens straight away in the live service. Copies in our backups are overwritten on the normal backup cycle and are gone within 30 days. Backups are never restored to bring a deleted account back.
